Our Website is run by the American School of Warsaw with its seat in Bielawa, ul. Warszawska 202, 05-520 Konstancin-Jeziorna, Poland. ASW is the controller of the user's personal data processed by this Website.
Please read this Privacy Policy to understand how ASW may process your personal data submitted through our Website.
What personal data do we collect and for what purpose?
With respect to all persons visiting the ASW Website, the controller has automatic access to public IP addresses from which they browse the Website's content and to the data contained in logs (http queries). The collected data is used solely for the purpose of administering the Website and for statistical purposes. The basis for the processing of this data is the implementation of our legitimate interests in the form of administration and operation of the Website and the possibility to carry out analyzes and prepare statistics. Statistics do not contain any features that identify visitors to the Website.
ASW also processes your personal data, if you voluntarily provide it to us by sending us an e-mail or participating in a survey, subscribe to our communications.
In this case, ASW processes your personal data in order to implement the legitimate interests of ASW in the form of handling inquiries sent to us or carrying out research.
ASW also processes your personal data, if you complete an on-line application form. Your personal data is processed in order to evaluate the student’s admission to the School and make an offer of enrolment. In such case, the basis for processing will be consent or the necessity to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract, in particular filing the application form.
If it is necessary to defend ASW against possible claims, all or some of the personal data mentioned may be further processed on the basis of ASW’s legitimate interest, which is the controller's defense against third party claims but for no longer than the period of limitation of any claims.
Consent
Where processing of personal data is based on consent, the School will seek consent from the appropriate person. In case of personal information regarding students who have not attained 18 years of age, the School will seek the consent of the parent/legal guardian.
You have the right to withdraw the consent at any time, the withdrawal of the consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
Does ASW disclose the personal data?
ASW may disclose your personal data to the following categories of recipients:
- IT providers, entities operating our IT systems and providing us with IT tools, including hosting.
- Public authorities and institutions, national or foreign, judicial courts.
If you submitted an online admission application, your personal data may be disclosed to server hosting suppliers such as well as to those members of ASW staff, and collaborators, who need access to the personal data mainly in order to examine the application.
How long do we store your data?
The data collected by us will be processed no longer than necessary to administer and operate the Website.
In the case of personal data collected via the contact form on the Website, this data will be processed – respectively – for the time necessary to answer the inquiry / further inquiry.
If you submit an application form through the Website and if your application is accepted, ASW holds all your personal data for the period of enrolment and afterwards for a standard period of 6 years.
For inquiries and declined applications, your personal data will be processed for the period of the application process, and maximally for 2 years from the end of the calendar year when the application process was completed (for the purposes of defense against potential claims).
In the case of personal data collected vis subscription form, this data will be processed as long as you wish to receive Newsletter.
Third country transfers
We do not transfer any personal information about you to third countries (outside the EEC) unless you submit an online form.
If you submit an online form, the School may transfer your personal data to IT providers, including educational applications, online tools, server hosting suppliers.
Personal data is transferred outside the EU on the basis of EU Model Clauses. In such cases the School will do everything that is required to assure safe processing of data by entities in such countries, in accordance with the provisions of law. How we safeguard minor’s privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information or any other identifying data from children under 18 (unless the law allows the processing the data of children over 16). Should we discover that we have collected personal information of a child younger than 18, we will if necessary either delete the personal information or we will obtain the consent of the child’s parent or legal guardian to process the child’s personal information.
Cookies
ASW uses cookies to facilitate the use of the Website by visitors and to create anonymous statistics.

If our Website is made available by clicking on the appropriate button of the social plug-in, a connection is established between your browser and the server of one of the Social Networks. This then results in the transfer of your personal data (in particular, the IP address, the browser used, the time of browsing our Website) to Social Networks. If the Website is made available when you are simultaneously logged in to your account on one of the Social Networks, you can link the content of our Website with your profile in the Social Network. As a result, a Social Network may assign your visit to our Website to your account in that Social Network. This Website takes every precaution to protect our users' personal information.
