We invite you to a workshop about Assessment in the PYP on April 17th, 8:45am in Dolny Zamek. We want to show you that checking progress is about more than just grades—it is about helping your child improve every day. This session will help you understand how we support your child in the classroom.

As a community, we are working to improve our outdoor play and learning everyday! We want our playground to support healthy development and fuel the imaginations of our students. Play makes up approximately 20% of a child’s time at school, and our goal is to ensure this time is as rich and engaging as possible.

Do you want your child to show respect towards you, their teachers, and people in general - and - most importantly, to respect the rules and others’ belongings? Teaching respect is a big job. But thankfully, research shows a specific method to use. Children learn respect when they are treated with respect. So, make these simple efforts a daily habit:

The MammogramMe Club is hosting a Sports Day on Saturday, April 18th from 12-2pm. We will be having volleyball games in the annex gym and football games on the main field. The entry fee is 30 zl, which will go to the MammogramMe cause of providing free mammograms for women in need in Ukraine. Click to sign up!

At ASW we believe we have assessment capable, competent and self-aware learners who spend their days in highly engaging learning environments. Family engagement, led by students in these environments, further enhances parent partnership and ultimately student growth and achievement. 

We are thrilled to get our Grade 7 students out into the community for a day of hands-on environmental stewardship! On Tuesday, May 5th, students will be visiting the Polish Academy of Sciences Gardens, MOST Farm, and the BEE Farm to learn about gardening, wildlife tracking, and apiary maintenance.

For the past two weeks, our Grade 7 students have been fast-tracking their way through “med school” as they step into the role of medical professionals, researching common conditions such as asthma, influenza, and concussions.

ASW Middle and High School Track teams travel to Kraków for the PAAC Track and Field Meet.  ASW Badminton Club travel to Wrocław for the first-ever PAAC Badminton Tournament.

The CEESA Rock Band Festival in Prague was a great success! Our musicians performed with confidence and professionalism, demonstrating their musical growth. They made meaningful new friendships and connections with students from other schools, and represented themselves and our program with pride throughout the weekend. It was especially rewarding to see their enthusiasm both on and off stage.

It is 1936, and Rome is in crisis. Fearful and jealous, several Roman senators convince Julius Caesar's friend Brutus to join their assassination plot against the would-be emperor... Our HS production of Shakespeare's timeless political drama runs April 14-16th at 6pm. Tickets are on sale now at the main entrance for 20pln. We recommend this production for students in Grade 7 and above.

In an effort to highlight what people involved in the PTO actually do, we’re doing a spotlight each week on the different roles within the PTO. Maybe you’ll find out something about the PTO that you didn’t already know. Maybe you might consider joining the team in 2026-27 to help continue the amazing things the PTO does. Remember, we’re here for everyone: the staff, the parents and, especially, our kids! This week we’re looking at the role of the Vice President.

Spring is here, and it’s an exciting time to look toward the future! We invite you to schedule your Junior Family Meeting, a 30–45 minute session where students take the lead in discussing their university aspirations. During this meeting, your child will present their “Oh, the Places I Can Go” assignment, which serves as a foundation for us to talk about specific goals and outline essential next steps for the upcoming summer and the start of Grade 12. We look forward to meeting with you during this planning phase.

Between IB exams and university decisions, this is a high-pressure season for our seniors. While it’s tempting to step in and manage their path, they need a teammate more than a manager right now. Focus on their daily efforts rather than the end result, offer an open ear without judgment, and provide a little extra grace. Remind them that they are so much more than a test score or an acceptance letter, we’re in this together!

I’m sure a good number of families must have some “new to you” books in your home following the huge success of our Used Book Fair last week. 

Drop into the store to pick up one of our limited edition insulated water bottles. These stylish mugs have arrived just in time for the warmer weather and will keep beverages cool (or warm!) all day long.

ASW is proud to host the CEESA+ High School Music Festival at the end of the month and invites all community members to enjoy the culminating Gala Concert on Saturday, April 25 at 18:00. This is a family-friendly, free concert, with wonderful music from student musicians across Europe!

On the sunny morning of Saturday, March 28th, the spirit of service was in full bloom at ASW. Our CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) students once again stepped up, gathering to provide essential support to the Ukrainian refugee community here in Warsaw.

It will be a literary coffee morning this month as we head up to the flash new library for coffee, treats and a few words from our librarians, as well as the usual PTO updates and a chance to meet and mingle with other parents and staff. Join us in the library this Friday.

Volunteers have been working around the (school hours only) clock collecting and sorting books for the Used Book Fair. We hope you got your book donations in! Now they’re setting up tables and laying out books, probably as you read this, ready for the sale to begin tomorrow!

We are organizing a cycling course which will allow students to gain their cycling certification in Poland. You should sign up in Schoolsbuddy if you are interested. There is a limit of 30 students for this class.

Patience is a skill children need every day—from waiting their turn in a game, to staying calm when plans change, to working through tricky tasks. Learning to wait helps children manage emotions, build self-control, and feel more confident in handling challenges.

We’re off to a great start on book donations for the Used Book Fair - thank you to everyone who has already brought books in. I’m sure that, like me, you’re simply making room for all the books you’ll pick up at the fair! Remember that you can drop books off at all the entrances from now until March 31st. Then, don’t forget to mark your calendars for Thursday April 2nd and Friday April 3rd, from 8.15am until 4.00pm where you can pick up some amazing bookish bargains.

ZYGMUN IX is here! From March 19-21, ASW hosts 200 delegates from five countries to debate global equity. Don’t miss the Opening Ceremony on Thursday at 9:30 am in the Theatre, featuring keynote speaker Agata Duda-Płonka from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 Rising grade 11 students will be making their course selections this Friday during their advisory period. If you have any questions or need to make changes to your course selection, please contact your counselor ASAP.
