“Hand-to-Hand” Daily Dismissal

Grades Pre K-5 dismiss daily at 3:30pm. Staff are required to provide “Hand-to-Hand” dismissal each day. This means, every child is “handed” to another adult. Elementary students are not allowed anywhere on campus without adult supervision before and after school hours.

There are three options for Elementary Students at the end of the day, please choose one from the list below:

Pick-Up - Parents or guardians who are picking their children up at the end of the day should collect their child from the grade level pick up spot outside, including students in Grades 3-5.

Bus Riders - Staff will escort students to the bus waiting area. Students should wait quietly near the bus supervisors.

PYP After-School Activities Program or Tutoring - (will start in September) ASW maintains a list of all students enrolled in After-School Activities or who participate in tutoring on campus. At the end of the day - based on this information - ES Staff will escort ASA or tutoring students to ASA leaders where attendance will be taken. Students must be with an adult at all times before and after school hours.

Red-Tag Kids - Grade 2-5 students who live nearby or who have parent permission to take public transportation home at the end of the day will be provided a “red-tag” which should be visible on the outside of the child’s backpack. At the end of the day, Staff will escort Red-Tag Walkers outside and monitor students as they leave campus. All students who are not in an ASA or documented tutoring session after school are expected to leave campus promptly each day.

To register your child as a designated Red-Tag Walker for 2026-2027, please check below. Please note that previous registrations expired in June of 2025 and annual renewal is required. Confirm with your child’s teacher that their status has been correctly recorded. Your child’s status can be changed in the future by contacting the Elementary School Office.
