Building the Future
Welcome to Building our Future!
We are thrilled to begin this exciting project to renovate our school buildings and upgrade our facilities. Over the past 24 months, our team has been hard at work developing a master facility plan to ensure that all of our buildings are brought up to the highest possible standards. Our goal in the next 24 months is to create a safe, comfortable, and modern learning environment for our students and staff, while being sensitive to our environmental footprint. Our window project that is being installed now is an example of being better stewards of scarce resources.
We look forward to working together on this project and creating a school that we can all be proud of!

A GLIMPSE INTO THE FUTURE
Before we get into the details, take a look at the collection of renderings that might help you get an idea of what ASW will look like in the near future.
HOW IS IT GOING TO IMPACT THE SCHOOL?
Construction will begin in June 2023, immediately following the end of the 2022/2023 school year, and is expected to be completed in 19 months. Please refer to the scope of work and the timeline below.
To reduce disruption, most of the heavy construction work is planned for the summers of 2023 and 2024 (shown in red) while work in yellow will occur during the school year. However, most of the work during the school year will take place in areas that students rarely use, such as administration section, courtyards, and the area between the annex building and the cafeteria.
Due to the construction site, a significant portion of the parking lot will be closed, causing changes in traffic flow and limited parking space. The inconvenience is expected to persist until the summer of 2024. It is advisable to drop off students in the area next to McDonald's or avoid driving to school to reduce traffic congestion.
Window replacements, which began in late 2022, will continue on a classroom-by-classroom basis, causing minimal disruption for one or two days per classroom.
Simultaneously, classrooms will be renovated by installing new ventilation systems, new lighting, and repainting. The Elementary School renovation will begin in the first semester (Phase 1), followed by the Upper School in the second semester (Phases 2-3). Adjacent classroom blocks will be closed for two to three weeks during the renovation, requiring temporary relocation of classes. However, we have ample space to accommodate students, and it is not expected to have a significant impact on their learning experience. Detailed maps of each phase of the work are available for your reference in the "PHASES" section.
TIMELINE
PHASES
Due to the scope of the work, we've divided it into three phases, each with a different degree of inconvenience. To provide a better understanding of the construction process, we have prepared detailed maps that illustrate the scope of the work during each phase. You can access these maps by clicking on the buttons below.
Phase 1
Phase 1, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of the first semester, will cover most of the heavy construction. By the end of this phase, the new Administration Building [A], the new Design Center [DC], Teaching & Learning Center [TL] and Collaborative Courtyard [Y] will be open to students and staff. Additionally, the Construction of the Library/Cafeteria Extension [E] will also be completed. However, note that the Extension will not be connected to the Library and Cafeteria until the summer of 2024. Both facilities will be accessible to students throughout the 2023/2024 school year.
Phase 2
Phase 2 will begin at the start of the second semester and will mostly involve the continuation of rolling classroom renovations. Theater's backrooms will undergo renovation, and classroom renovations throughout the Upper School will occur with minimal disruption.
Phase 3
Phase 3 is scheduled for the summer of 2024 and will involve connecting the Extension Building [E] to the Library [L] and Cafeteria [CF], expanding and renovating both of these areas. In addition, We will also build a Connector [C] between the Middle School and the High School, which will require closing the Middle School entrance until completed. Some renovations of the outdoor areas are also planned for Phase 3, including the OPAL area, and the parking lot. Most of the construction is expected to be completed by the start of the 2024/2025 school year.
