The Class of 2020 Commencement Ceremony was held on Saturday May 30th and, for the first time in our school's history, it took place outside on the ASW sports field (click here to watch the recording).
The ceremony was opened by High School Principal Michael Sheehan, followed by speeches from the School Director Mr. Jon Zurfluh, English Teacher Dr. Christopher Taylor, and students Julia and Taylor. 'Endurance', 'perseverance', and 'breaking the mould' were qualities attributed to the Class of 2020 for having finished their final year under Covid-19 lockdown conditions.
United States Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher also delivered a special congratulatory video message to the graduates in which she encouraged them to treasure and nurture the relationships they form throughout their lives.
The weather wasn't cooperative however and when their names were called out at the end of the ceremony, graduates had to receive their diploma covers under cover of umbrella. Mr. Sheehan and Mr. Zurfluh, along with School Board Chair Mr. Gregory Liddle, were in attendance to confer the graduates in that special moment.
But the rain didn't dampen spirits as the enthusiastic graduates stepped out from their marquee once more to take part in the tossing of their caps (watch a video here), signifying the transition to the next chapter of their lives, and to becoming ASW alumni!
Congratulations Class of 2020!
