Polish Floods Fundraiser: Message from ASW Students

Message from ASW students, Zosia and Chloe:

We wanted to state an issue which is currently affecting south-western regions in Poland. As you may have heard, many regions of Poland have been under destruction due to the floods. Many people have lost their homes, possessions and even lives. People have lost their livelihoods which have been in their families for centuries. In a matter of minutes they were left with absolutely nothing. Not only people have been affected but hundreds of displaced animals.The animals in the villages that were kept on chains or in kennels have drowned due to the fact that they weren't able to escape the water. There have been many volunteers and local authorities assisting others in this time of crisis, rescuing people and animals on rescue boats, fire trucks and jet skis, some even sacrificing their own lives. The victims of the floods are now homeless or living in local shelters, schools and other common areas.They are in desperate need of:

• Toiletries (toilet paper, soap, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, diapers, tissues, etc.) 
• Dried foods (pasta, rice, beans, dried fruit, oil, flour, sugar, etc.)
• Canned foods (soups and stews, fish, fruits and vegetables, etc.)
• Large supply of bottled water
• Animal food 
• Blankets, pillows, sleeping bags
• Cleaning supplies: mops, buckets, cleaning rags, washing soap, sponges, etc

Please consider bringing donations to support Poland, our host country! We are joining forces with the city of Konstancin for this effort. You can leave your donations in the ASWfor Foundation van between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM until October 1st.
