An All-7th-Grade Service Day at ASW

An All-7th-Grade Service Day at ASW

Among the many things that were offered this May to the ASW’ middle schoolers was an All-7th-grade Service Day. The goal of the event was to ensure a positive service experience. The students practiced cooperation, and they created presentable specific products for the many charities with whom the students previously met on zoom. Their advisory teachers supported students to complete their previously sketched plans and checked in on their progress. For example, they made educational tools for their peers from the School for the Blind and created artworks for the residents of one of Warsaw’s homeless shelters.

In addition to that, the students also engaged with a number of activities that were ASW community-oriented. They painted some of the picnic tables; they helped sort the equipment in the IT storage; they sifted and aerated compost, weeded some of the school’s garden beds, and planted pumpkins; they also helped sort various items for sale in the PTO store and helped to rearrange books in the library. The 7-graders also sorted plastic bottle caps according to colors for the ongoing Precious plastic project.

All in all, it was a fulfilling experience and hopefully, it opened the student’s eyes and hearts to future possibilities that ASW is offering through its collaboration with local and international NGOs.
