Computer Science Class Connects with Alumni

12th grade computer science students were fortunate to connect over Zoom with Guy Drori, an ASW alumni who works as a professional software engineer. In addition to answering questions like "what do you remember most about your time at ASW?" and "what advice would you give to high school seniors who want to get into IT?", Guy walked our students through a real-world problem set. 

Students had a chance to understand a real-world IT problem, and propose questions and ideas to solve the problem. It was a rich learning experience and a wonderful opportunity for our seniors to see a perspective from outside of ASW.

About Guy

Guy always had a passion for tech and computers growing up. At ASW, Guy participated in the HS Robotics club, travelling to Bucharest to compete in the 3rd annual CEESA/FIRST Robotics competition. He won the senior Superlative award 'Most likely to be positive about everything'.

After graduating from ASW in 2015, he went on to study Computer Science at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw, where he graduated in 2019.

In the meantime, he started his career in IT and software development part-time as an intern at a national pharmacy chain in the summer of 2016, where he became a regular team member. In the summer of 2018, he took on a new position as a Fullstack Java Developer at a local IoT company in Warsaw, where he worked until April 2020, mainly on web applications.

During this time, Guy gained exposure to various aspects of the IT industry. After starting in helpdesk, he worked in system administration and with different software development technologies, including mobile apps, desktop Windows apps, and web applications. His favorite project is writing an Alexa skill for an IoT project.
