ASW Learning Kitchen - a Grand Opening of a New Learning Space

ASW Learning Kitchen - a Grand Opening of a New Learning Space

On Friday, we officially opened the new ASW Learning Kitchen with the help of our sponsors. The Learning Kitchen is designed to be a gateway to cultural understanding, global citizenship, and essential lifelong skills.

The Learning Kitchen will fit in perfectly with our academic programs, adding a fun, hands-on element to our PYP and MYP goals. Students will engage in inquiry-based learning that develops critical 21st-century competencies like planning, collaboration, resource management, and a vital focus on healthy living.

The kitchen's role goes way beyond just academics. It's a place where we'll celebrate our international community's diverse cultures through food, strengthen connections with our families and the wider local community, and create unique experiences that truly set our school apart. We're planning some exciting programs to make the most of the kitchen, like Service Learning projects (like preparing meals for local shelters and leading fundraising events), different after-school clubs (like International Cuisine, Baking, and Food Science), and entrepreneurial activities, like a potential student-run café. A dedicated Learning Kitchen Working Group will be overseeing this exciting space, making sure that everyone has fair and equal access. We're excited to see what our students cook up next!
