2018 University Report

Warm congratulations to the Class of 2018! Students in their final year face great challenges, sweeping changes, trials, tribulations and important celebrations. Though he was not describing the life of a high school senior, Charles Dickens words nevertheless ring true in this instance: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope..." The sentence goes on, however, ending on "hope" and "spring" makes sense as we approach graduation, an event that marks an important new beginning for our seniors.

Unfortunately, much of the stress of senior year is due to university applications and planning for life after high school. Fortunately, we have some happy to share in this University Edition of the newsletter. It was an unusual year in statistics - Brexit, rising tuition and a changed political climate in the USA, and expanding English language degree options in Europe all contributed to a radical shift in university applications with slightly less than 10% of the class of 2018 planning to attend university in the USA. Read on for more facts and figures on this year's university application season.

Scholarship Report

Though we generally provide a scholarship report to the USA with average award amounts to both US citizens and international students, the small percentage of US applicants means it is not meaningful to calculate averages.

The good news, however, was that ASW students saw scholarships from universities in Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Abu Dhabi, and Canada, in addition to the USA.
