The ASW community came together again for the traditional UN Day celebration on October 24th.
At the all-school assembly (which you can watch on our Facebook page) ASW welcomed dignitaries from 12 countries including the ambassadors of Slovenia, Kazakhstan and Bangladesh, who witnessed the Warrior spirit come alive in our flag carriers and school choir.
Director Jon Zurfluh's opening address talked about the 'Warrior way' as a school philosophy that encourages our students to be caring and to work together towards achieving greatness. This is a sentiment reflected in ASW's core values.
Over 40 countries were represented by beautifully decorated tables, each of which ES students could visit to receive a stamp in their UN Day passports. In the midst of the country tables were eye-catching performances from many countries, including a taekwondo demonstration, open Salsa dancing, Chinese traditional dancing, Korean dancing and rapping. These performances delighted both parents and students alike.
Novelties this year included a digital interactive screen and LED display at the Poland table showcasing the history and culture of our host country. This represents the incredible advancements Poland has made since gaining independence 100 years ago to become one of the fastest growing economies in Europe*.
