United Nations Day is a long-standing tradition at American School of Warsaw. On October 23rd, our community came together once again to celebrate our diversity.
After the all-school assembly, featuring the roll-call of flags and music and dance performances, students and other community members were able to enjoy visiting over 50 'country tables' set up and run by parents of ASW students. At each table, elementary school students received a stamp in their UN Day passports, as well as a tasty treat to try from that country's culinary tradition.
The USA country table this year was themed around the Oregon Trail and the food eaten by the original pioneers. The Poland country table included a folk band from the Tatry mountains and delicious Polish delicacies. Indian, Chinese and Bulgarian parents performed traditional dances, while students who practice Korean taekwondo performed a demonstration of their skills. There was also a live Zumba class, as well as many different arts and crafts activities on offer.
