ASW has celebrated becoming an authorized IB Continuum school at a small gathering for faculty and staff. The school's three IB coordinators (Carl Beach, Miranda Rose and Elizabeth Swanson), along with the school director Jon Zurfluh, Board Chair Raymond Banks, and Director of Teaching and Learning Carol Jordan, cut into the cake that marked the start of a new chapter for the school.
The new IB Continuum status means the school now offers three out of the four IB programmes - the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) alongside the Diploma Program (DP), which is already well-established at the school. As Mr. Zurfluh wrote "this is exciting for ASW's students, because the scaffolding of learning will build with each successive program around key goals, linked in powerful ways to our own adopted Core Values."
The addition of the PYP and MYP to our existing programme was brought about by the efforts of IB coordinators Miranda Rose and Elizabeth Swanson, along with their administrators and faculty. Thank you to all!
This year the IB also celebrates its 50th anniversary.
